You don't have to look hard these days to find a story of someone who has been deeply affected by the current economic downturn. All across the country, the names and faces change, but their stories remains the same—times have been tough. Here in Michigan, things have been especially bleak, with unemployment rates routinely leading the nation.
In spite of these circumstances, many laid off individuals have decided not to wait for things to get better, deciding instead to take matters into their own hands. Small businesses are sprouting up at record rates and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives this proud country has never been stronger.
Being part of a small business here at LandscapingScene.com, we understand many of the challenges of starting and running your own operation. We know it's not easy and that there are numerous obstacles to overcome. That's why we are dedicated to promoting an entire industry comprised mostly of small and medium sized businesses.
As part of this pledge, we are excited to introduce Green Industry Website Giveaway 2010! We are going to build a brand spanking new website for one deserving green industry company. For FREE. That's right, the same people who designed and built LandscapingScene.com want to provide your business with a cutting edge website solution. Do we have your attention yet?
What's Included
The following is the initial list of services and products which we are giving away. We may add to this list as the contest continues. The winner will receive:
- A completely customized website design or existing site re-design that incorporates your company's branding (logo, colors, etc.). This site will be a 'nuts and bolts' package that includes a homepage, about us, portfolio(for contractors) or product categories/lines(for suppliers and nurseries), and contact form.
- A powerful content management system so you can update all pages in a text editor that is very similar to Microsoft Word. It's very simple and comes with complete documentation!
- An email newsletter module with a template created with your company color scheme. We will even import all of your customer emails so you can start sending monthly or quarterly email newsletters right away!
- A detailed search engine optimization plan. Once we build the website, we want it to show up on Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. for maximum exposure for your business.
- One year of free website hosting!
- One year of free support. We'll stand behind our product and guarantee one year of free support on all issues relating to the existing website functionality.
The Process
The contest will run for 1 month, at which point a winner will be chosen based on factors such as need, contribution to the green industy, and overall company appeal. After a winner is selected, we will get in touch with a representative from the winning company to set the project in motion (we are hoping to launch the new site in 6-8 weeks after the project start date). Even if you don't win, feel free to check back, as we will be blogging about various aspects of website administration for small business owners. It'll be worth the read, we promise!
What We Are Looking For
We have a few criteria a company must meet in order to be eligible for this contest. Each company must be:
- Located in the United States (apologies to our international friends)
- A LandscapingScene.com member
- A full-time green industry contractor, supplier, or nursery
- Be passionate about the green industry
- Open to sharing with our audience a little bit about your company and the website design process
